Selling out the U.S. Middle Class
The lack of control over the illegal influx of poor workers at our borders and the
policies of MBA's (Master's Degree in Business Administration) at our major corporations
to send jobs overseas simply to make high bottom lines is killing our economy and the
middle class in the USA.
The policies of "no control over the flood of poor workers coming across our borders are
turning this countries middle-class jobs into $8.50 per hour wages. More and more jobs are
being lost to the illegal alien workers who are coming across the border and are willing to
work for $5 per hour. No longer are these the low pay jobs that no one else wanted, but now
the employers are cutting the hourly wages of middle class jobs and hiring the new immigrant
works. These illegal immigrants are willing to live 10 to a one-bedroom apartment and try
to work their way up to the middle class jobs but the dirty little secrete is that
employer's like Wal-Mart have lowered the pay scale so much the once good paying
jobs are gone. This means more U.S. families are not able to keep a wage level
that will let them become homeowners and property tax payers.
As thousands of U.S. manufacturing jobs are being exported over seas the U.S. citizens
lose there good jobs and find they are now competing with illegal immigrants who will
work for a third of what it takes to raise a family in the U.S. IBM just exported 500
computer jobs to China.(December 2003) Sprint and Dell have also exported jobs to India.
The U.S. workers are supposed to be the major market for all the goods that U.S.
companies now make overseas. But as the pay scales drop here in the U.S. who will
have the extra income to buy the U.S. products manufactured overseas and shipped to
the U.S. Henry Ford said he was raising the pay of his employees to $5 per hour
(at the time it was $2 per hour) so that they could go out and buy one of his
Ford Cars. This Ford policy not only was a major boom for the Ford Company it
was a major boom to the U.S. economy. But then Henry did not have an MBA from
a major business school.
We must control the flow of poor workers in to our county and stop shipping our
jobs overseas just to save a few bucks. In the long run it will cost us much more
than we saved. Plus it will wipe out the middle class in the USA and then who will buy the goods.
Finally it will wipe out the jobs of the MBA's and that degree with $2 will get you a
cup of coffee.
