Personal Note from Kenneth Lay, formerly Chairman of Enron
Editor's Note: Kenneth Lay has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Houston on 11
criminal counts from charges that come out of the alleged fraudulent operations of the
Enron Corp.
Other high raking Enron officials have pleaded guilty to Federal charges.
This note was written before Lay was indicted. The note was sent to a woman named Kay,
who was a high school classmate who runs an Internet Hickman High School unofficial newsletter.
Judd McIlvain the editor of this TroubleshooterJudd.com Web Site is also a classmate of
Lay in high school and at the University of Missouri.
Lay was one of the smartest young men in High School and at the University. Lay was
offered an opportunity to give his side of the Enron Fraud on CBS's 48 Hours and he
turned Judd's request down. He said he had done nothing wrong.

Kay and fellow Kewpies:(the nick-name of Hickman High School Students.)
I apologize for causing so much commotion. It appears that the media
continues to be interested in my welfare. They are particularly
interested if they think my welfare may not be good.
To the contrary, Linda and I and our family are doing fine. We
strongly believe that our God is stronger than all of the prosecutors,
FBI agents, SEC investigators, other attorneys, etc. in the world. We
are convinced that all of this will ultimately work out fine.
As you would imagine, the last 2 1/2 years have been extremely painful
and tragic for so many people. We have certainly had our difficulties
and hardships, but I am particularly in pain by what so many of my
former employees as well as many others have had to go through. For
the most part, the media has just made it worse.
I trust all of you are doing well. Rest assured we are too. Hopefully
I will be able to communicate soon that things are measurably better.
In the meantime you might find the enclosed New York Times article of
interest.
Warmest regards,
Ken
