Sick Pet Turtles

Federal Health officials have issued a medical alert dealing with small pet type turtles, that are about a half-dollar in size. These small green turtles are sold or given away as children's pets.  Medical officials say they have found the small turtles can be a carrier of Salmonella, which is a bacteria that can make children very sick and can be deadly.

One hundred cases of Salmonella coming from contact with these small turtles have reported across the United States.  Eight of these cases have been reported in children in Los Angeles County.  If your children have some of these small turtles, tell them it is now time to release them back to the wild so they can be with their families.
