New Internet Costs
In the back of the minds of the CEOs of Internet portal companies has always been the opportunity to charge Internet users each time they download from the Internet. As you know, now you pay one-fee for monthly use of the Internet and you can download as much as you want with no other fees. That Freebee is on its way out.
It appears that Verizon will be the first company that will start charging for each download from the Internet. Consumers will be charged for the bandwidth that was used for the download. If you want to download a video from CBS, ABC or YouTube it will cost you money. Movie downloads from the Internet will become more expensive, not only will you pay for the movie but you will pay for the bandwidth that you used.
Internet portal companies may sell bandwidth packages, like cell phone companies that sell packages of minutes.
Also it appears that soon many local governments will be charging new fees for the use of Wi-Fi in cities and counties.
The politicians see the Internet as a new source of revenue that can keep them in office.
